There’s an active recall in Canada on enoki mushrooms, according to theCanadian Food Inspection Agency. This is due to the mushrooms testing positive forListeria monocytogenes.

If your enoki mushrooms match the recall information, dispose of them immediately or return them to where they were purchased. While there are no reported illnesses connected to this recall,Listeriainfection (aka listeriosis) can be serious for people who are age 65 or older, pregnant or immunocompromised.

Common symptoms of listeriosisinclude fever, muscle aches, nausea and tiredness. For more extreme cases, symptoms like stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions may occur. Talk to your health care provider if you have any of these symptoms after consuming enoki mushrooms.
