Costco just announced a recall on smoked salmon, according to a notice sent to consumers.This is due to the affected product being potentially contaminated withListeria monocytogenes.

Exposure toListeriabacteria can cause foodborne illness known as listeriosis.Common symptoms of listeriosisinclude fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. However, people that are pregnant, age 65 or older or immunocompromised may experience more severe symptoms like headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions.
If you are noticing any of these symptoms after consuming the recalled salmon, talk to your doctor as soon as possible.Listeriabacteria can quickly spread to other food, surfaces and people, so be sure to follow the FDA guidelines and wash your hands, refrigerator and countertops after handling any potentially contaminated products.
