There’s an active recall on Cheddar cheese sold in five U.S. states, according to the Food and Drug Administration.This is due to a potentialListeria monocytogenescontamination.

There May Be More Food Recalls in 2025—Here’s Why That’s a Good Thing

While there are no confirmed illnesses connected to this recall,Listeriainfection (listeriosis) can be a serious sickness for people who are age 65 or older, immunocompromised or pregnant, and for young children.Common symptoms of listeriosiscan include nausea, vomiting, severe headaches, high fever, stomach cramps and diarrhea. If you are showing signs of infection after consuming the recalled cheese, talk to your health care provider as soon as possible.

If you have one of the recalled products on hand, dispose of it immediately or return it to your place of purchase for a refund.
