Brown lentils sold at Walmart are being recalled nationwide in Canada, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. This is due to an undeclared wheat allergen in the product.
Check your pantry for these packaged lentils. If you have the above product and are allergic or sensitive to gluten, the CFIA recommends disposing of it as soon as possible or returning to its place of purchase. Those with a wheat or gluten allergy like celiac disease may experience symptoms like hives, nausea, stomach cramps, headaches and, in more severe cases, anaphylaxis.Anaphylaxis symptoms occur suddenly and can progress quickly, so if you’re experiencing dizziness, rapid heartbeat, tightness of the throat or you’re having trouble breathing, call 911 immediately.
For questions about this recall, call the CFIA’s toll-free number at 1-800-442-2342 or emailinformation@inspection.gc.ca.
