There’s an ongoing recall on ashwagandha supplements sold to consumers in Canada, according to Health Canada. This is due to an undeclared allergen in the product.
The product affected is the Health First branded 300-milligram Ashwagandha Supreme capsule supplements. The market authorization number printed on the impacted bottles is “NPN 80090653” and the lot number is labeled “1398302.” These specific bottles are being recalled as they may contain dairy, a common allergen.
If you have the above recalled supplements and are allergic to dairy, dispose of the product immediately or return to its place of purchase. People with a dairy allergy that consume this product could experience symptoms of anaphylaxis, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, hives and, in serious circumstances, trouble breathing, tightness in the throat and cardiac arrest. Those that use the recalled ashwagandha and are experiencing any of these symptoms should consult a health care professional as soon as possible.
