It’s a well-known fact that President-Elect Joe Biden is a fan of ice cream. Fromcelebrating National Dessert Day on Instagramtosharing a scoop with Jimmy Fallon, Biden’s love for the dessert is clear. But despite Biden’s penchant for ice cream,Crank & Boom Craft Ice Creamdecided to celebrate this historic election with a flavor honoring his running mate Kamala Harris instead.
In a media release, Crank & Boom Co-Founder Toa Green spoke about the decision to honor the Vice President-elect. “We are honoring Kamala Harris with this special flavor as a celebration for women everywhere, especially women of color, who are earning their seats at the tables that so many have fought for for so long,” she says.
While the shop has received mixed feedback about the “Kamala Pecan” flavor, she doesn’t let the negativity stop her “from speaking out and celebrating what is a momentous occasion for so many women of color.” This is especially important to Green, who is an Asian American, one half of an interracial marriage and the daughter of immigrants.
